Follow these Tips to make Moving Stress Free

Moving can be a chore but it can be a new opportunity too. There is no need to let stress overwhelm you like a dark cloud. These tips can help you to move without the stress commonly associated with it! Planning can help you to make it a more productive and hassle free experience. Make Time Chances are you already have a full schedule. It isn’t practical to think you can add moving to it without some changes. Carve out time for decluttering, packing, paperwork, and the actual moving. Make time for unpacking your belongings at the new home. Try to take vacation days if you have them. Even one day on either side of the weekend can turn into three great days to get things in motion for the move. Plan your agenda for what you would like to accomplish. If possible, get someone to watch the kids so you can focus on the moving. Plan easy meals or get take out so you don’t have to try to fit the daily tasks into your schedule too. The more you can do to focus just on the moving, the faster it will be done. Packing Pack well in advance in sturdy boxes. Each one should be marked so you know where it goes and what is in it. Pack by going through rooms one at a time and taking out what you do not need. As the date to move gets closer, remove more and more. When it is time to move, it should be just the large furnishings that remain in the rooms. As you pack, have some bins or boxes ready for what isn’t going with you. Anything that is broken or damaged should go in the trash. Items you no longer use but someone else can benefit from, should go into a donation pile. Don’t move anything to your new home that you don’t have a use for. Cleaning It is best to clean the old home completely after you have all of your items out of it. This can be time consuming. Consider hiring someone to do the work for you. They can start as soon as the movers have all of your items out. Make sure you inspect it before you pay them for their time. Carry Essentials with You Take along a bag or suitcase with sleepwear and a change of clothing for each household member. Make sure you also have essentials for each of them. Pack some water and snacks too so you are able to cover the basics if there are any delays with your household items being delivered or unpacked. Keep some cash accessible too just in case you need it. Be ready for the unexpected and don’t let it get the better of you. With these tips in mind, moving house can be a stress free and productive experience.

Stress Free Moving Strategies

Don’t let moving get the best of you. Focus on the positive elements of the move and not the process. Plan ahead so you don’t feel like you have too much to get done. If possible, take some time off work here and there so you can work on packing. Make sure you carefully research moving companies if you are getting help with relocating your items. Hiring Help There are several levels of hiring help when you are moving. You can pack on your own and then have a removalist load and move the items for you to your new location. The other option is they come in and they pack for you and then load it and move it. Of course, it is cheaper to pack on your own, but you also have to think about the time involved. Select your help very carefully and make sure they don’t have a long list of complaints against them. The cost will depend on how far they are moving your goods, the weight of your goods, and their pricing. You should be able to get a free estimate without any obligation. Do this early on so you aren’t in a rush to make a final decision about who to hire. Packing If you decide to pack on your own, do it over several weeks. Get various size boxes and packing materials. Don’t over pack the weight of a given box. Start with items you don’t need such as out of season clothing and wall decorations. Go through each room and pack up what you can do without, first. In the final weeks, start to pack up more items you can do without. Use towels to pack your dishes so they don’t get broken. Every box should be clearly labelled with what is in it and which room of the new home it goes into. Switching Over Utilities and Transferring your Mail Get in touch with the utility companies early so you know what the process will be. If you choose to remain with the same service provider, you can get them to transfer the service from one location on a given date and start it at the new location on another date. If you are changing providers, you will need to call one to cancel and one to schedule a new installation. Talk to the post office early too so you can fill out the necessary paperwork for your mail to be forwarded. As you pay your bills and go through your mail that following month, make sure you include the change of address with all correspondence. The same is true if you pay any bills online.

Common Tasks to take Care of before you Move into your New Home

Before you move into a new home, there are some tasks you should take care of. They will make you more relaxed and on top of things, and importantly, help you to enjoy your new home from the very start! New Locks Always give yourself the peace of mind of getting new locks on all the doors to your home. Make sure you get spare keys made too, then you won’t have to worry about being locked out. Put a spare well-hidden on site. Schedule Hook Ups You need your water, electricity, landline and internet hooked up before you move into your home. Get those scheduled so they are ready when you arrive. If they need to come into your home to connect, make sure they do so the first day you are there. Help with Kids and Pets You aren’t going to get your home organised with children or pets under foot. Get some help in place so you can focus on what you need to do around the home. You can get someone to come to the house and be with them. You can also schedule to take them somewhere while you focus on your new home. Change of Address Let your friends, family, employer, and the post office know about your change of address. Otherwise, you may miss out on wedding invitations, Christmas cards, and other information you would love to receive from your contacts. If you have any subscriptions for magazines, make sure they know your updated information so you can continue to get your issues on time.

Selecting a Family Friendly Neighbourhood

The right neighbourhood for your family to reside in is very important. It isn’t worth it to have the home of your dreams in a location where you don’t feel safe. You should have access to common amenities too. Here are some things to take into consideration before you make a purchase. Schools Even if your kids are very young, they will soon be going to school before you know it. Find out the quality of the childcare centres, primary and high schools in the area. You need to feel confident your child will have a solid educational foundation in the area you choose to live. Community Activities Most parents love getting their children and the entire family involved in various community activities. Find out what is on offer in the local area, including sports teams, community projects and festivals that you and your family can become a part of. Shopping You will appreciate the convenience of having shopping options close to you home. This can include places where you get groceries, put petrol in the car, pick up medications and maybe even have a meal out. It makes sense to have these necessary businesses in close proximity to your home. Transportation Even if you have a vehicle, you may find public transportation to be a necessity. If you have older children, they may need to rely on it to get to school, the library or even a part time job. Public transport also ensures you have alternatives by which to travel and is an indication of quality local infrastructure in your area.

Should you Rent or Buy your Next Home?

The decision to rent or buy your next home isn’t always an easy one. On one hand, renting means you have flexibility. You can leave when your lease is up and move anywhere you like. If you enjoy the place, you can talk to the landlord about renewing the lease. You also don’t have to take care of major repairs or replacing appliances either as that is their responsibility. Yet when you buy your home, you are building up equity in it. Each month that money goes towards something you own and you get ongoing value from. With rent, you pay for the use of the property but then it is gone. You can also fix up your home anyway you want when you own it. This includes painting and decorating, whereas you are limited with such options when you rent. What can you Afford? When you evaluate your budget, you may discover you can’t afford to buy your own home right now. You may not have good enough credit or enough money saved up for the deposit and the associated costs involved with the purchase. Perhaps you can’t buy the type of house you want on your budget, so you are going to rent for now and buy in the future when your situation improves financially. If you are uncertain you would like to live in a given area for an extended period of time, don’t buy. You don’t want to feel pressure to sell the property because you’d rather relocate. However, if you plan to stay in the area for many years, it is better to buy than to rent. Then you can sell it for a profit at a later date.
